The River
"Sharing Loads of God's Love"
Since opening our doors on October 4, 2004, The River has served thousands of women and children in need. Many are without support networks and are at severe risk of falling between the cracks into greater poverty, homelessness, and desperation. The River provides two levels of service- Core & Support. Core services help women meet basic needs on a daily basis. Support services empower women toward self-sufficiency. Guests value The River for its comprehensive and unique programs and for the compassionate and respectful manner in which they are offered. We believe that every woman has gifts and strengths that she can build on to be successful and it is our hope that The River can bring new life!

Covid-19
Dear Friends,
We know that for the time being, all of our lives have changed. Community has always been at the heart of The River’s ministry. Unfortunately, it is community that spreads Covid-19 and puts each of us at risk for infection. In response, The River is doing our part to help flatten the curve and keep our guests and staff healthy and safe. Starting in August The River will be open from 8 am to 3 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Up to three women can wash at a time and all loads must be started by 12:30 pm. Showers will be first-come, first-served and one at a time up until 2 pm. The following services will be available at the door on these days: mail, feminine hygiene assistance, resource referrals, and homeless verification letters. All who enter The River will wear a mask, pass a symptom check, social distance, and practice safe hygiene. We will provide masks.
We will open on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month to distribute diapers to families enrolled in the J. Walter Brown Changing Lives from the Bottom Up diaper subsidy program from 9 am to 12 noon.
Core Services are at the heart of The River's ministry. These services help women meet basic needs on a daily basis. Guests can use these services to help themselves.
